Missing client

I need a solution

Hello

I have install OpsCenter 7.5.0.5 (Build 20130209) some time ago and I thought that everything works well, but
today when I was creating a custom report and I wanted to select a specific client from the list of clients
(Create a custom report -> Select Parameters Tab, Filters -> Client -> Client Name -> Value)
i didn't found this client. Client is available in NetBackup.

Next I ran SQL Query
SELECT * FROM domain_client WHERE name="client_name"
the client was displayed with deleted status 0.

Do you know how to update/fix a client list in Opscenter?
Thanks

OpsCenter Custom SQL Reporting

I need a solution

Hi

I'm trying to generate a report that displays the percentage usage for disk pools.

I can display this either as an integer or as a decimal to 6 places - neither is what I am after.

I am trying to limit the percentage display to 2 decimal places.

From investigation on SQL, this should be doable using DECIMAL(3,2) for instance - but I have not yet found the right was to add this to a custom SQL script (or even if this is the right way for OpsCenter). I've also looked at the FORMAT directive without success.

Here is the SQL I am using (this shows the percentage as an Interger - changing 100 to 100.0 shows as percentage to 6 places):

SELECT
  dms.friendlyName as "Master Server",
  dp.name AS "Disk Pool",
  dp.serverType AS "Pool Type",
  100*dp.usedCapacity/dp.usableSize AS "Percentage Full"
FROM domain_DiskPool dp
INNER JOIN domain_MasterServer dms ON dms.id = dp.MasterserverID

GROUP BY dms.friendlyName, dp.name, dp.serverType, dp.usedCapacity, dp.usableSize
ORDER BY dms.friendlyName, dp.name, dp.serverType, dp.usedCapacity, dp.usableSize

Reporting on Alert IDs

I need a solution

Hi we are running OpsCenter Analytics 7.6 on a Windows box.

I would like to find a way to add the alert ID to a report of all the failed backups for a specified period, potentially 8 days.  Does anyone know if this is possible?  If it is, then is there also a way to add the Alert Comments to the report as well?

Thanks in anticipation, we have someone who compiles consecutive backup failure reports to management, and this would greatly assist her.  In an ideal world, she'd like a report of consecutive failures for 8 days, in the 'Week at a glance' format with the alert comments alongside, as the comments will contain our service desk incident reference.  I suspect that she's wishing for the moon though.

Opcenter Monitor wrong drive status

I need a solution

I face issue about opcenter drive status monitor is wrong. In NBU device monitor all drive status is TLD (Up) but in opscenter drive status is mix.

I test disable collection then enable data collection but it still show status is mix. I test delete all drive on NBU then re-collect data on opscenter but drive status still show mix.

I need to know how to update or clear status of drive on opscenter

Note :

NBU Master Server version is 7.5.0.6 (Solaris 10)

Opscenter Server version is 7.5.0.6 (Window 2008)

OpsCenter 7.6 Upgrade Purge Setting Changes - Important for Analytics Users - Please Read!

I do not need a solution (just sharing information)
In OpsCenter 7.6, purge settings will change from 420 to 220 days.

For fresh 7.6 installations, there should be no cause for concern.

However, upgrades from previous versions of OpsCenter, could cause a large amount of historical job information to be purged from OpsCenter.

Symantec NetBackup OpsCenter 7.6 Administrator's Guide PDF

pg. 254

Note:  Before OpsCenter 7.6,the default data purge period for the backup jobs data was 420 days.
             In case of OpsCenter 7.6 upgrade, the default data purge period that is displayed for backup jobs data
            depends on what you had in the previous  OpsCenter version.
            If you retained the default data purge period in the previous OpsCenter version (that is 420 days), in OpsCenter 7.6, it is set to 220 days.
            If you changed the default data purge period in the previous OpsCenter version, the same period is displayed in OpsCenter 7.6.

For example: If you changed the default period in OpsCenter 7.5 from 420 to 500 days, in OpsCenter 7.6, it is set to 500 days

In short, if you have never changed your default purge settings from 420 days (default) in OpsCenter 7.0, 7.1, or 7.5, and upgrade to 7.6, your default will become 220 days. When OpsCenter triggers its purge cycle, 200 days of historical information will be lost.

Please Note:  This is only for users that have never modified the default purge setting of 420 days, in previous releases.

Services stopping and starting

I need a solution

I am having a bit of a problem. The problem seems to be Windows related but I want to make sure that there isn't a related issue. Here are the particulars:

Windows 2003 R2 SP2

OpsCenter 7.1.0.4

This happens to be a VM.

I'm getting alerts that the Server and WMI services are stopped. When I check, they are running. A look into the events logs show that they were stopped and started, but give no indication what stopped them.

Has anyone seen this before. Could OpsCenter be causing this somehow.

Thanks,

Dan Seymour

Hey there,

i've tried to update OpsCenter Agent on a local Solaris 10 Zone. The Install script 7.5.0.6 exited with the following Error:

Version 7.5 is already installed. Why is an update not supported?

NetBackup OpsCenter and Microsoft SCOM/SNMP

According to tom_sprouse here: http://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/snmp-opscenter

OpsCenter does not support SNMPGET, although when reading the Management Pack Manual it states on page 13-14 that a Advanced Discovery is run. According to our SCOM guys that usually means it does an "SNMP probing/SNMPGET". So that discovery is something different (it is and old post by now)?

I set up a few alerts and they do seem to get shipped out, although they dont see them on the SCOM server (SCOM 2012, which should be OK according to https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/scom-2012-and-netbackup-7x ):

Using Opscenter views to create the failure Alerts

$

I need a solution

I have created 'views' in java viewbuilder to allow me alloctae views to different logins, per server owner. This allows the logged in user to only see their servers reports.

I also use the alerts to email into a call management system to log incidents for backup failures.

I currently have individual alerts set up per server to allow this to be emailed into an automatic incident management system.

Can anyone advise if they have successfully used a 'view' for the alerts...For example, could I use the same 'view' for the alerts that I use for the logins/reporting? This would be instead of using just the general view of all clients.....

OpsCenter Custom Queries - is it possible to combine output from 2 queries?

$

I need a solution

I have created a custom query to report on the daily job status codes.

And I would like to have OpsCenter combine both Queries into (1) report (i.e. Email)

Is that even possible with OpsCenter SQL? I tried a UNION but no luck ...

The first report, shows all the jobs with "Partial success" status codes 1 to 6 ...

// --------- Query #1 --------- //

SELECT
  clientName as 'Client',
  policyName,
  mediaServerName as 'Media Server',
  statusCode as 'Exit Status',
  UtcBigIntToNomTime(startTime) as 'Start Time',
  UtcBigIntToNomTime(endTime) as 'End Time',
  ((endTime - startTime)/600000000) AS 'Run Time (minutes)',
 parentJobId AS 'Job ID'

FROM domain_JobArchive

WHERE
  DATEDIFF(hour, UtcBigIntToNomTime(startTime), GETDATE()) <= 24
and
  statusCode > 0
and
  statusCode <= 6
and
  masterServerId = 61

ORDER BY 1,5

// ----------------------- //

While, the second query lists the count for each status code ...

// ------------- Query #2 ---------------- //

SELECT statusCode AS STATUS, COUNT(*) AS COUNT

FROM domain_JobArchive

WHERE
 DATEDIFF(hour, UtcBigIntToNomTime(endTime), GETDATE()) <= 24
and
 masterServerId = 61

GROUP BY statusCode

// ------------------------------------------- //

Custom report needed - Daily success rate per data type

I need a solution

We have been using the daily success (stock) report but noticed it doesn't fit the needs -

Specifically, I'd like to break it up so it seperates PROD from Non-PROD servers in the daily stats.

All of the non-prod servers have a 't' in their hostname, so that should make it a simple

And then, would like to separate it further between APP, DATABASE and OS backups ...

Luckily, all application policies have the key word "APP" ... and databases have either SQL or ORACLE keywords in their policy.

Finally, the OS backups all have "_Server_" in their policy name.

The end-goal is to generate this for each day, going back for the last 30 days.

But I would appreciate some guidance on how this can be accomplished ... nested queries ? JOIN or UNION statements ?

Seems like I would have to build SQL queries to get each column data ... then generates percentage % columns for each ... and somehow combine into multiple columns and then 1 row per day.

Let me know your ideas and I'll share the solution for all to benefit ...

Get deduplication ratio per DiskPool

I need a solution

I am looking for an OCA report that shows the dedup ratio that you find in the "Deduplication Ratio" field using the method below:

NetBackup Administration Console, expand Media and Device Management > Credentials > Storage Server

Do I need to code something in SQL to achieve this? There are a couple reports templates like dedup space savings, but I just need the ratio like 9.8, no fancy stuff.

Second prize would be a command that I can just cronjob. Like an nbdevquery, I've come up with nothing so far.

Thanks

Customized Template report stoped showing data for one master server

I need a solution

On Saturday (two days ago), OpsCenter's reports stoped sending data on one of our master servers.  The reports still go out fine, but this one master is missing from the report.  I've run the reports manually while loged into OpsCenter, and get the same result.

I've checked data collection, and even disabled, and enabled it again, but that doesn't appear to be the issue.  This is only affecting the reports.  The data is showing up when monitoring that enviorment from OpsCenter.

Any suggestions on what I might check next?

Ops Center - Report Template Field Merge - Help Required !!

I need a solution

Hello Friends,

I Have a doubt/help required in generating custom report in ops center.

Is there any way we can merge two different report fields from the two default report template provided by ops center. For instance, Am generating a report for set of clients as per customer requirement for daily deliverables.

All the below fields were included, However the customer wants Last Good Full Backup field to be captured in this report, I can able to generate a separate report for this field from variance -->"Backup job Size Variance" report. My concerns is do we have any option/solution to merge this single field to the existing report which was created early. Required fields example are below,

Old Report Fields:

Master Server

Client Name

Policy Name

Policy Type

Schedule Name

Job Directory

Job Start Time

Job End Time

Job Duration(Minutes)

Job Size(GB)

Skipped File Name

Job Status

Job Status (Complete and Partial only)

New Report Fields :

Old report fields + Last Good Full Backup field
