Running OpsCenter in a clustered environment

I need a solution

We're looking to build a new Opscenter clustered environment.  Looking for some real world suggestions and a few questions.

 

Per the Admin guide, only VCS is supported as cluster software for Windows or Unix.  Is anyone using anything different with sucess and have you had any support issues from Symantec.  My windows guy said they use the built in windows clustering.  I'm not sure I like that solution, but willing to listen to what anyone has to say.

 

When clusted on a Unix system, what did you do for the shared file systems.  From what I have been able to find in the admin guide  These are the file systems OpsCenter uses

/opt/SYMCOpsCenterWebGUI,  /opt/SYMCOpsCenterWebServer,  /opt/SYMCOpsCenterGUI, and /opt/SYMCOpsCenterServer

Do all of these need to be shared for clustering purposes or just a few of them?  If this is like NBU I know not all the /opt/xxx need to be shared for the cluster to work.

Failed virtual partition in ghost create image task - need solution please

I am new to the forum and not usre if this is the correct place to post this as I can not find the GHOST console product in the list below;

My company is currently trialing the Ghost Console on windows Server 2008 R2 on HP Proliant DL 370G6 hardware. I am currently trying to create and image task for a windows XP based machine. I get success in all areas but virtual partition fails. Do you have any advise on why this is failing? The XP machine I am trying to ghost has 2 discs, both with 2 partitions.

Migrate OpsCenter

Hi everyone,

 

I have a media server with the Netbackup OpsCenter 7.1.0.4 installed in Windows Server 2008 R2, and I need to migrate it to a new media with Linux OS without losing the reports that I already created.
 
Anyone have an ideia how can I do it?

OpsCenter 7.5.0.3 upgrade error

I need a solution

Hi,

I am trying to upgrade my OpsCenter from 7.5.0.1 to 7.5.0.3 but this keeps failing after updating the database, it seem to start Ok then goes into rollback mode. had a look at the Vxinst.log but cannot see why this is failing, I have attached the log for review.

Any assitance would be appreciated

OpsCenter 7.5.0.1 restore option error

Hi,

When using OpsCenter 7.5.0.1 restore option I have found a problem when browsing a clients directory structure, I can see the top level directory but nothing beneath, the directories are shown if I use the jnbSA GUI and also if i search for a file within the sub folder using the OpsCenter method this locates the file and shows the full path including the subdirectories.

Ops Center data collectors are not working

Hi All,

I am facing an issue with my Ops center data collectors. JOB data collector always run and does not collect data(After 24 hours job summary status is showing NO DATA).  Whenever we enable and disable the data collection then CPU utilization reach 100%. 

Other required information is given below:

Master server version: 7.1.0.4

Ops Center server: 7.1.0.4

Ops server configuration is given below:

8 CPU

2 GB RAM

Linux suse 11.2(Separate server for ops center)

OpsCenter - How far it can retain backup History

I need a solution

I want to configure OpsCenter for NetBackup 7.1 environment and have few basic questions. Your answers will help me making my decision. Thanks in advance.

1. How far OpsCenter database can retain backup History? Suppose I want to check if backup happened for servers 3 years back can I go that far (ofcourse I don't to restore it just want to check)

2. Does OpsCenter support reporting Vault, Duplication, Archive job types??

3. When the collector fetches the data from Netbackup Master server does it significantly affect the performance, particularly in a large environment??

4. What are the common issue faced before configuring the OpsCenter??

Custom report in OpsCenter

I need a solution

I'm trying to figure out how to put together a report in OpsCenter that pulls the following information:

 

Policy Name   Clients   Schedule(s)   Backup Selections   Retention.

 

I've looked at the custom reports options and some of the canned reports, but nothing appears to pull everything I need.

Hello folks,

I have a situation where I need to create a report in Opscenter to generate the following type of report. This report used to be available on VBR but its not available on Opscenter 7.x

PLEASE HELP!!!

Report on backup client to show the following:-

Job ID,

Status,

Master Server

Media Server

Backup Start/End time

Backup Image name

Copy #

Media ID on which the backup image is written to

Pool name on which the backup image is written to if it is written on 'disk storage'

Unable to Delete Master Server

I need a solution

I am running OpsCenter Analytics 7.5.0.1.  I am unable to delete a decommissioned master server.  I do:

 

Settings

Configuration

Select the master server for deletion.

Click Delete

 

Once done, I get a message saying, Operation Completed. The OpsCenter console may take some time to show the updated status.  However, the server is never deleted.  I've waited days, I've restarted OpsCenter completely, I even defragged the DB... it will not go away.

Is there any SQL I can run in the report view to remove it cleanly?

OpsCenter - "Fatal error during installation" (upgrade from clean 7.5 to 7.5.0.4)

Hello,

 

I have searched for any information about this but only found basic information and not real solution. The problem is with upgrading OpsCenter 7.5 to 7.5.0.4 Maintenance Pack.

 

I am installing a clean OpsCenter software (basic version, not Analytics), version 7.5. Then I try to upgrade to 7.5.0.4 version but it always fails at Database Schema Upgrade stage and rolls back to 7.5 version with “Fatal error during installation”. The log does not give me any useful information.

 

In the past I had issues upgrading from OpsCenter 7.0.1 to 7.5 (I had to scratch the database and install it clean, then I was able to “upgrade” – now I cannot even upgrade from a clean version of 7.5 to 7.5.0.4).

OpsCenter : customized report with color or icon

Hello,

Do you know if it is possible to customize the report rendering with colors and/or icons ?

I'm trying to reproduce a synthetic report of daily jobs, and default tabular report are not easy to read.

Is there a way to replace value in column with icons, or use a value to colorize a row ?

Ie: failled job will be in red, or with the (motif X11) guy icon,... It will ease the reading of the reports.

Has anyone had experience with creating Storage Lifecycle Policy reports?

We are running Netbackup 7.5.0.4 and OpsCenter 7.5.0.4 (Build 20120916).

When we go to OpsCenter -> Reports -> Storage Lifecycle Policy -> SLP Backlog it doesn't show anything.

We do the SLP Status and it does show, but not for the dates we were looking for.

Right now on our Datadomain we have a 28 day retention policy, not sure if that comes into play.

Basically we are trying to get a report for a dedupe job that was ran for a client back in May.

Ops Center Services keep stopping

V7.1.0.2 Windows

Hi all,

I have an issue where my OpsCenter services stop every night just after midnight. Once started again everything works as expected. Database corruption has been ruled out.

There is no error that I can find, only informational messages in the windows logs – “Normal shutdown of service SQLANYs_VERITAS_OPSCENTER”. Source: SQLANY64 11.0

I have an open case with Symantec and have sent them NBSU/Application/System logs which has not seemed to help.

Looking at my Catalina logs I can see that the Catalina service also stops at that same time too – INFO: Stopping service Catalina.

I have confirmed that no scheduled tasks are running which may cause the issue.

My tomcat.log file hasn’t updated in over 2 weeks (does that mean anything)?

Symantec want me to upgrade the version to see if that will fix the issue, but I thought I’d just try here first to see if anyone has any ideas.

Has anyone come across this before?

Moving custom reports - OPScenter 7.0.1 and 7.5

Hi All,

I have a question about My Reports in OPSCenter.

I have old 7.0.1 but with many of custom reports. There is a problem with database consistency, so, I don't want to upgrade. I installed new OPSCenter 7.5, and this is working good. But I have to have the same reports (custom) from old version in new version.

It is possible to move created custorm reports from OPSCenter 7.0.1 to 7.5? If so, how to do that?

 

Both are Windows 2008 R2

Veritas Backup Reporter 6.6 is not working

Hello Everyone,

We've a Veritas Backup reporter 6.6. Daily we'll receive Daily summary Report and Daily failure Codes, till 12/23/2012 Tuesday it was working fine. For 12/24/2012 it didn't send the daily failure codes report. I've tried manully editing the script by using the absoulte data and time then ran the script. It dind't work. I required help to resolve it.

Is there a KB for OpsCenter Hardware Refresh and/or Server Rename?

I need a solution

We've been running OpsCenter Analitics (starting with 7.0 and now up to 7.5.0.4) on one of our Master Servers and, due to the load on that server, I'd like to move it to its own box.  And that box will be at a different Data Center so it'll have to be renamed.

 

We don't run any fancy queries and use NTLM for access so those aren't issues but, if possible, I'd like to migrate our historical info...

 

So...Is there a hardware refresh KB and/or a rename the server KB?  I can't seem to find either one when searching.
